Now over a month of great sound the speaker is not working. The sub red light comes on but no output. Checked the source where the sound was taken from and that is ok on the BMW. Please advice |

Hmm, was the unit used? Could be a blown amp on the unit.

So you checked that you still get a signal from the stock rear speaker wire, right? I assume you check the signal by plugging a speaker on it, correct? OK so if the problem does not come from the source let's check what can be wrong with the basslink subamp. It could be that the voltage from your battery is too low to activate your subamp. The subamp needs a very good ground and +12v input. What may have happened is that either you do not have a good ground anymore or your battery voltage is not good enough to activate the subamp. So check these connections. Also most subamps including the basslink have 2 x +12v power inputs. The first one is the remote to power the amp on when you turn the radio or ignition on. The second one is the constant +12v straight from the battery. The basslink has the capability to automatically senses a signal coming from the speaker which in such a case does not need the remote activation but for that to work you need to select the auto switch to 'auto'. Which mode are you using? Auto activation or remote activation mode? If you use remote then the red light you see is probably showing that you get the remote +12v but not necessarily the constant +12v. If these are not the problems then you may have blown your subamp.

Thanks. I am sure my battery is good as it is new and starts my X5. I will check the connectors and test with a speaker as you suggested. My systems comes on with the speaker on.
Keep you posted. |
