Finally I actually have my X5
I finally got home 11pm MDST - my 'low mileage' X5 now has 2500 more miles since last Fri 8:30am EDST - pictures will have to wait as the camera did not make the suitcase repack - which was better than the original thought, when I discovered no camera, of it not surviving the airport inspection process!
Let me say, after driving from Staten Island to Idaho Falls that this is my last car - (note here exception if big lottery or Vegas winner) - This X5 is big and solid and pushes me way-y-y back in my seat - I have legroom and extra headroom (thanks to no sunroof) - THIS is a big man's sports vehicle - now if the only made it with a 2dr with rollbar and 4pt seatbelt and forget the backseats - Of course, the sports seat reminded me I still have some more pounds to lose, but I can't say it was uncomfortable, having just completed a 600+ mile trip from Denver to Idaho Falls in less than 10 hours Only casualty was the driver's side rear window cable assy retractor - which fortunately broke after I got past the cold front and rain in Kansas - I first thought I broke the window as it had made a loud crack and the window slowly sank into the door - I plugged the hole in Colby,Kansas and made a mad dash to Denver for the closest BMW X5 dealer - 6:30pm Murray of Denver - closing time - BUT a salesmant came out and saw my problem and gave me the name and number of the glass co they use - Elite Auto Glass - now those of you in Colorado remember that name - I left a message that night and they called me the next AM - 11:30am they started work only to find it wasn't the window that broke - they could not get the other part until 3pm - I really didn't want to wait being relatively close to home,so I asked them if they could button it up with the window closed - this they did and by 1pm I was on my way - oh,cost? - for ordering a replacement window, dis-assembly and re-assembly of the door, researching availability of actual broken part, and getting me on my way with the window up - no charge!!! - that's right, I could not even pay them for the time and effort they made to help me - that's 2 'attaboys' in my book - one for Elite and one for that unknown salesman in the used cars/service dept at Murray

Glad you made the trip home safely and enjoyed it. That is, other than your window regulator going teets up on you. There is just no good time for those to go out. I know, I've had three replaced. One went out just as it started raining heavily. Figures.
