Auto. shifter fitment & color Q

I am considering replacing my automatic shifter with one that contains a metallic insert that matches the graphite-titanium colored trim on the door release and door pull handle that began with the MY04 release.

I found one on eBay from an E39 5 Series with the insert described as "metallic gray titanium," said to be "an almost exact match to the titanium trim for E39." (I have no idea what the titanium trim on an E39 looks like.)

1. Does the E39 shifter fit the E53?

2. If so, will the E39 shifter metallic insert match the MY04 graphite-titanium colored trim on the door release and door pull handle?

3. If not, does anyone have any thoughts on how I might accomplish this?
