I don't know what happened: everything went blank

I managed to change the door actuator because I couldn't open the door from outside. It did not do the trick so I guess it must be the door cable, not the actuator. So I put everything back together and plan to bring it to a BMW authorized center on Monday to fix the door handle problem. When I started the car and when it was about to start, everything went blank: no electricity, no lights at all and the engine did not start. I don't know what happen. Has this ever happened to any one here? Thanks much for the feedback, guys.
