My radio reception is excellent. Are you in an E53 or E70?

I see you had a problem with your speakers previously - did you resolve that? If not could be that your radio module needs replacing.

Never had any issues with radio reception in the UK, but I only listen to 'national' stations so may not lose the signals that much. If you're on local radio then the coverage on VHF is designed to be local as the transmitter power is very much lower - typically 2-3kW as against 50kW for a national station. VHF being 'line of site only', you will lose signal if anything gets in the line between you and the transmitter site.

Hi
My X5 3.0 2001 model has an intermittent problem with radio reception, most of the time it is fine but now and again i will get a very poor fM reception. I have tried turning RDS on and off and re tuning the stations which sometimes cures the problem. Also i have noticed this problem occurrs mainly when the rear screen heater is active and suspect that this may be interfering with stereo reception. Anyone have any ideas on things to check or a DIY fix for this problem. It is only minor but irritating!! Cheers Adrian |

I thought it was widely accepted radio reception on E53 is not brilliant- mine can be a bit hit and miss at times although usually weaker stations. I can confirm you are not alone- however haven't seen a " how to improve" guide -sorry.

RADIO RECEPTION
Most of the time my radio reception is excellent, and no real problems recieveng any station national or local. It definitely worsens when the rear screen heating is on as i've tested again today with same results.
Maybe it's something i'll just have to live with i guess as it is fairly intermittent. If anyone else does have any views please advise. Thanks |

Had problems when I first got the X5 where neither the phone nor radio antenne were properly connected. No issues at all since the day that was fixed under warranty. I'd say reception is excellent across the UK and on any frequency. (80,000 miles experience)

I'd say it's quite poor, my old mini's radio reception was much better.
