X-Pipe modification with stock exhaust

I'm very interested in the X-Pipe modification with my stock 4.4 exhaust.

I was hoping to find a sound clip but the link on the Home Page (http://s17.photobucket.com/albums/b8...n=view&current
=Mov_1228_002.flv) doesn't seem to be working.

For those who have done it I have a few questions please.

- In rough terms, how much does this increase the sound? i.e. 5%, 10%, 20%, etc.
-Is the sound increase mostly noticible outside the vehicle, or can you notice it much inside the cabin as well?
- Did you pick up any droning or resonance on the highway?

Thanks to all!

In my case it increased volume by maybe 10% at idle and maybe 25% at full throttle (outside) . 0% difference on the inside at idle until you step on it.

Zero resonance at any rpm or load. note: this is with stock 4.6 mufflers, YMMV.

You might try just removing the resonator first and see if you like it, that is louder than an xpipe if that is what you are looking for. Then add the xpipe if you want to tame it down.

Is there any kind of noticable performance difference?

Nope, it is purely for better exhaust note. It would take quite a bit of a power increase to feel a real difference on such a heavy vehicle.

In 10 years of owning BMW's with performance oriented engines (i.e. M-motors, V8's with factory dual exhausts, etc) I have never heard or read about any appreciable real world HP gains with aftermarket exhausts. I used to own an e28 M5 and remember seeing an exhaust test in Roundel Magazine. They tested a Dinan, Supersprint and several others available at the time and actually published dyno results. The winner? The stock BMW M5 exhaust! Part of BMW's performance oriented engineering includes free-flowing, efficient, quiet exhaust systems.

IMHO - most Bimmer exhaust mods are for sound quailty and, in rare occassions, to reduce weight.

1. 20% louder maybe? Not too much, but you will notice.
2. Yes outside for sure, inside a little bit louder.
3. Not really, doesnt bother me.

I have a 4.4i with Remus and it sounds friggin' awesome. Basically it adds a deeper exhaust note. Install it, you wont regret it.

Have many guys installed the straight pipes and not the X-pipe? I need a bit more sound and think the straight pipe might be the way to go.
