Not worth it - I have the digital one and it is so quirky. Sometimes it holds your settings from the last time you were in the X and sometimes it holds the settings from 2 startups ago.

I don't know which one I have, 05' X5 4.4i, but it has a screen at the bottom with temp and also a knob at top with blue/red dots. The system is very weird, and I don't like it. The temperature is controlled by the knob at the top, so what is the purpose of setting my car to 70F?

The air temperature control at the top (with the blue/red dots) should be left in the full hot position (all red dots) if you want the climate control to regulate the temperature of the air coming out of the dashboard vents. You only select the blue dots if you want to override the climate controlled air temp' coming out of these vents. Why?, you might ask, has BMW designed the system like this. It is so that on a cold day, with the climate control pumping out hot air on your face (and possibly making you drowsy on a long trip) you can cool the air blowing on your face without freezing your toes. The system actually works fine if you understand what BMW is trying to achieve. The handbook also does not describe the system operation very well. Regards Colin. |
