Brake Question Cont...

Ok, so thinking my front rotors are warped. I apply light pressure to brake about 75-80mph and the steering wheel vibrates back and forth. However I do not feel it in the brake peddle. Odd.

Ok it continues… I had the front rotors, pads, and sensors replaced in March…all of 6,000 miles ago.

I just had the back ones done two weeks ago. I also had the bushings changed as they were cracked. While I was back home in SC this weekend, I had the tires rebalanced and had yet another alignment. Seems to be better, but still get the vibration in the steering wheel and ride is still kinda bumpy I think (damn sport package).

Sooo…rotors? Something else? Steering column? Lug nut pressure? Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Oh P.S. When the back ones were done, the stealer took off “a whole bunch of anti-squeel goop that was covering the front pads” that the other stealer apparently put on. Would that make a difference? Thanks!!!!

Check the runout with the wheel tire and rotor on It could be a bent hub have you hit anything had a accident ???? bad bushing in the front can do this also have someone hit the brakes while going about 5 mph while you stand next to the car if the wheel moves back then the radius bushings could be shot

Front bushings were just changed. Roads are really bad here in DC so maybe it is a bent wheel?

My question is that why didnt the stealer try all this? I just hate to have to go back.

Thanks.

jwilburn,
Did you read this post? :
http://www.xoutpost.com/x5-e53-forum/...ko-ko-bop.html

A total redo.

Otoh, I recall from memory, some posts that detailed other front end
"efforts" similar, and the high speed braking shimmy came back or, was
not fixed.

I've had a similar situ since a couple years into our '01,
(too lazy to find my long version post), though mine "went away",
for awhile, when I swapped out my old oem 18" style 69 wheels &
tires for a set of oem style 132 19s.

It was smooth as glass then, under any conditions. I then got a nail in
left front, so I had the local, very low tech tar guy, patch it; he put the
tire back on not quite in the original mounted postion. Result: a slight low-med speed
wobble, especially downhill, and the high speed brake steer. Wheel shudder is back,
but only on long trips. I can't figure it out, it is not a huge bother to me, and I don't
have the inclination to do a full front end overhaul.

Hope the linked post helps and do a Search on topic as there are pages of similar
Original Topic threads.

Thanks MD! Yes, I have done many searches and got lots of info...its what had me take it to be rebalanced and aligned in the first place.

Thanks for the link, I saw that one before and wasnt sure if I was in the same situation.

My service II is quickly coming up so I guess I will just bring the laundry list of things to check..ball joints...hub dents...rotors...ect.

Thanks!

So I had my entire front end checked out...suspension, brakes, wheels, steering, etc...all good to go. Yet still have minor vibrations when braking from 60-70. Hope well.

But hey I think they may have fixed the tailgate rattle! *crosses fingers*

Fronts done in March I think by the dealer. So that shouldnt be the problem. Might be worth it to do it again myself later.
