CD Text support

How do I know if my Radio/MID supports CD text or not?
I have a 2003 X5 3.0d without NAV.

no they don't support text, seems daft doesn't it

reason I ask is because I'm looking at an Ipod kit which says it will display text if the radio supports CD Text.
When was this introduced into the X5 family?

Further to the above, is it the CD player which provides the support or the radio unit? I wonder if swapping one (or both) of the above will give me CD text capability?
