Angry New screen but sensor wont work - and loads of hassle too AHHHHH !

Well I have had an absolute windscreen and sensor nightmare !

Car is 12/01 build UK '02 registered E53 Sport with climate comfort screen, it) and headlamp plus rain sensor. I bought the car used and it had fitted a pilkington replacement screen but to oe spec. Whoever fitted that screen had not done the best job as I had noticed that the drain channel on the left side was sitting under the glass and thus was ineffective. I've since looked at more than one of these cars and tbh the rubbers dont always sit right if the screen has been changed - go check guys and girls - should be equal sized channels in rubber that sits on glass either side of screen.

Anyway I have had my screen refitted by RAC Glass Repair but various issues since - the one unresolved being rain sensor function is not working.

Car went to Chandlers BMW dealership as rain sensors not working Dianosis took place but not in depth as they ran out of time, (due to other issues resultant from lack of communication between BMW dealer and RAC Glass repair company). They say sensor has been initilaised/activated/coded etc but they suspet there may be a fault with the screen. Dealer almost certain not a problem with any control module or switch.

I have been told they cant diagnose it further until they get another X5 in and have been told they will call me as and when ..... I am not hopeful of a speedy resolution to this !

To make matters worse this is being done via my insurance and by using my excess which I have witheld paying until the matter is sorted. My contract is effectively with my insurance company so I have a somewhat diluted impact on Chandlers BMW as in this instance they are effectively sub contracted by RAC Glass repair to rectify the rain sensor issue.

I HAVE EDITED THIS POST AS IT WAS A BIT OF A BORING RANT !
