Stay away from the Stealer...my advice is to find a reputable private shop that works on BMWs in your area (look in the Roundel). I use VACMOTORSPORTS in Philly pretty far from you but they are members of the BMWCCA and are honest, fair and competent.

If you're a little apprehensive in bringing it to another stealer, try calling Curry's automotive. They have a good reputation in servicing BMWs and Porsches in the Metro DC area

Well Finally got the truck back from the dealer $2400 dollars later and stilll having the same problem a week later. Does anyone know a a shop close to White marsh-Perryhall area that can fix my trans? I'm going to give it a shot by replacing the trans and I dont want to take it to the stealer. They ripped me off too many times.

I had my transmission fluid changed recently at Fairfax BMW. Interestingly enough, the lead shop tech (#138) actually did NOT properly fill the fluid and I was short about 1 1/2 quarts after the fluid swap. This caused my transmission to go into TRANS FAIL SAFE when I was on a steep incline. Once the car was level again I could just restart it and it would drive fine. After the tech worked out the air bubble in the tranny and topped it off again everything has been running fine again. If you're just having intermittent problems with your tranny, could it be something simple like fluid levels?
