I think some of the M wheels fit the 2000 through 2003 E53s and others fit the 2004 through 2006 E53s, if you do a search you should find the differences, I will try to run the search as well and if I come up with a thread I will shoot you the link.

Its one of the best mods you can do to the X IMO, many say that the E46 M3 wheel is one of the best factory steering in production and I have to say I agree. You can also purchase larger paddles from a variety of websites, I have not upgraded my paddles yet but I have been thinking about it. Good Luck.
