Roof rack question

I just got my OE Roof rack (latest version) and I have to say it is VERY nice! I'm glad I spent the extra money for the BMW version. Its good looking (Thule-ish) and the covers with the key lockout is very nice.

Ok, here's my question. In the manual, it says that the rear rack should be 610mm (24inches/2ft) from the rear most part of the roof rails. So thats how I mounted the rear one. Now for the confusing part. The manual says the distance between the middle of the bar of the rear to the front should be 715mm (28inches). BUT, its not possible to move the front rack further than 26 inches from center. Am I missing something here? Its not possible it seems to mount the rack 28 inches from center when the front rails end and start to slope forward.

How is everyone who is using the OE BMW mounts have theirs attached?

BTW, the key wrench with the buil in torque wrench is INGENIUS! Wow, kudos to BMW or whoever that designed and built this rack!

Hey congrats! Don't have one (yet), but can you snap a few pictures of the setup and stuff you're talking about?

Sure, I can. It'll be up in a few. I'll show how I mounted. If anyone can compare to how they mounted it, that would be great. I hope I have it right.

I just test fitted for my trip to SF this weekend.

Yeah, its the 053 rack. I got it off ebay for $170 shipped from Bloomfield BMW. It took a week to hit SoCal but for the price, it couldn't be beat. Of all the roof racks I've used (Profile 2000, Lexus, Yakima) this current base rack is VERY VERY well designed. I have to say, they did an excellent job (other than the confusing directions).
