confused about bluetooth

Since starting in July in California it is a law that everyone must be using bluetooth, I am trying to figure out how to get this feature into my "new" CPO 04 X5.

I understand that I can replace a module and get bluetooth aftermarket but this will disable my BMW Assist features that I have installed. I want to preserve these features since I think it is a pretty valuable tool and would like to come up with a solution that gives me both bluetooth and BMW assist.

My question is of course, is this possible? If so, how would I go about doing it?

The thing that confuses me is that I know someone who has an 05 X5 that has both BMW assist and Bluetooth.. is this something that I can do on mine by purchasing a newer module or something similar?
