FM Modulator
Advice needed, I have been offered the solution of installing an FM Modulator to get DVD audio playing through the car stereo system, I have a 2005 with Nav and DSP.
Have any of your guys used this solution, seen it in action, whats the quality like ? DVD audio is selected by using one of the FM Radio preset channels.

My advice would be to get the AUX input kit. It's only about $35 and the difference in sound quality is night and day. You won't be happy with an FM Modulator.

4 years ago I installed a 6 CDs changer in my wife's car via an FM modulator directly connected to the antena input in the back of the factory radio. It has been working well since and the sounds is surprisingly very good. I do not hear any difference between a CD played in the changer and a CD played in the factory installed cd player. The trick was to adjust it to the right FM frequency. I would not recommand any FM modulator based solution where there is no hard connection between the transmitter and the receiver.

I agree with UCrewX5. Since you have an auxilliary input on your stereo, use it. I have tried FM modulation with an iPod and that sounded horrible not to mention static and interference while traveling long distances/different radio ranges.

1 more for AUX. No question about it, DVD through AUX is the only way to go for optimal sound quality. FM Mod can sound ok when there is no interference, etc., BUT, FM cannot come close to reproducing the frequency range or signal-to-noise ratio that the wired AUX input can. For DVD audio which is very dynamic, these are very important factors. Also, you pick up input-gain-control with the AUX input that you normally don't have with FM modulation. All for $34!! No brainer.
