A big thank you to Jon and Emission from bimmerfest

Jon and Mike,

I wanted to express my appreciation to the two of you for taking me in and giving us a home following the mass exodus from the Roadfly X5 board last fall. Many at bimmerfest, and the two of you in particular, did your best to accommodate us and try to make us feel welcome.

Despite your best efforts, though, there is a group of regulars here that for one reason or another never embraced us. I honestly don't know whether it was resentment about some of the special treatment (instant avatars, our own "lounge" area"), a jealousy about the camaraderie that we share, a fear that the X5 community was growing too big too fast, or if that's just the way they lead their everyday lives. Whatever the reason, the pettiness that these particular individuals bring to the forum on a day in and day out basis just doesn't make it fun to stop by and visit.

The final straw for me was the elimination of the Refugee Lounge without any warning or notice to some of the X5 regulars who participate in that forum. I can only surmise that the pressure from the non-X5’ers simply too great to continue that discussion board. I don’t agree with the outcome, but I respect your right to do so. As a result, several of us have decided to start our own forum that will hopefully provide the environment that we have been seeking. X5world has been a home for all of the collective wisdom and learnings from this bunch over the years, so we have taken that site and wrapped our own forum around it.

Please understand that we are not looking to “compete” with bimmerfest. Rather, much like e46fanatics is viewed as a complimentary service to bimmerfest, I am hoping that X5World can also be viewed as a complimentary service.

Again, I thank you for being our "host" for these past six months. You have a great community here and I hope everything continues to thrive and grow. You are welcome at X5World any time.

Best regards,
Jeff

In fact it is a repost, but I put it here as well as on bimmerfest because I wasn't sure if the mods over at the 'fest would delete it or let it live. If they did delete it, I wanted to at least have a live public copy of my sentiments

Well said, Jeff. Although, I wouldn't encourage everyone to give them the big kiss off. I think it's important that we still have some people left posting there and on RF because they can just keep referring people to x5world for their answers....of course not mentioning that it now includes a forum.
Build it and they will come.
