On my MY02 it was only 36k mile maintenance and I got 2 oil changes, Inspec.1, new brakes all the way around, wipers and tires(a dealer only thing). I figure thats gor to be over $1500 worth of service for free. Not bad.

It's a tough chase, mileage-wise, to get to Insp2 in that 50K...
I got past Insp1 and am hoping to nail brakes before my extMaint, (we only had 36K/3yrs on the '01s), expires next month; probably won't happen. They'll say the brakes are fine and it'll be my dime a month later when they are gone. Remember to do the "annual oil service" for low mileage users. The maint is good, but we have all paid for it somewhere in that out the door price. And, w/"maint" covered, all the mfg'rs have extended service intervals or made them "lifetime". It's become a leasing/turnover, car world, with not much attention given to the few that might drive/own a car for 5 yrs and long mileage, or more. BR,md

My last green bar was on and I took a shot at taking it to the dealer (with other work to be done). Although, I was 1K miles away from a new oil change, I was within a month of it being one yr since the last change. They at first told me that I wouldn't get it but they called me back stating that it was less then a month away so they did it. I don't know if there is a policy like this but recall somewhere that BMW makes this allowance. Hope this helps.

I tried to get the dealer to do the oil service with one light on at 12,000 thinking that will get me the 2 oil service and insp I and II. But he refused and said he cannot do it until the yellow light comes on. Anyone know any dealer in the SF Bay Area that will do it early (with 1 green light on)?
