3.0 diesel new exhaust

I have good news for all 3.0 diesel owners. YOU CAN MODIFY YOUR EXHAUST TO HAVE THE 4.4/ 4.6 LOOK WITH MATCHING TIPS. Here are some pics of how my local exhaust shop did it. All I can say is "ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC ".

what back boxes did they use, if you use a universal back box (not just for diesels) you loose back pressure the the turbo will not spool up properly.

Everything is okay. No loss of back pressure . In fact, I felt I even gained some power when I test drove it the following day after I installed the new exhaust. BTW, do not forget to reset by removing battery clamp for at least 30 minutes.

Like the aggressive sound. Not bad for a diesel SUV.

Nice job mate !

I went down the Remus route, just this week.

I had looked at the Blueflame exhausts but then I realised that they do that fork type setup which imho looks cack (ie. two pipes into one).

Then I looked at fitting a 4.6i or 4.8i exhaust but the hassle of fitting a choke pipe to keep the back pressure right didn't seem worth it.

In the end I went back to my old and trusted choice of rear box, which has always had a great sound and fitment. Dead pleased with it, and only £500 fitted ! Fills the holes completely with 2 x 84mm tips each side !

Well... we had to do something, after all, the car just looked stupid with those two holes so obviously blanked off Have to keep em clean though. The deisels put out a lot of crap, so the chrome will need looking after. Maybe thats why BMW didnt fit them (but Audi, Porsche etc. do ). Anyway, happy now. Bet you are too

Just the wheels now...

Kev

ps. That stuff on the car is ICE. Doubt you see much of that in the Philippines - lucky sod !

Kev,

Nice job too on the remus exhaust. Any difference in performance and sound from the stock exhaust ?

P.S. We should have a dedicated thread (sticky) for all X5 diesel owners to post issues with their respective rides.

How about the other X5 3.0 diesel owners ? Would appreciate your comments if you did any mods on your respective exhaust systems...

Kev, where did you get the skid plate from? I thought we couldn't get them in Europe?
