I got 6 1/2 years out of my oem batt., and I only changed it
out so I could do it on my time, not "its time".

Short trips? Something draining it?
I'd cop a Battery Tender or something equiv. in the UK
and give it a good, slow charge on occasion.

Short trips mainly,school run for the wife and thats about it!!

Heated seats, demisters etc take a lot out of it....may a try a solar charger to see if it lasts a little longer.

Its a damn good question,one i never thought of and the answer is yes.I've just replaced the battery on my M3 ,also fitted with a tracker.

I wonder what current they draw?

Not really sure..I know on my M3 it had'nt been on the road for a couple of weeks and I slammed the boot down and "tracker" rang me...

It obviously draws current all the time even when off but not sure if it goes into "sleep" mode.
