You probably have some fault code that's stored and needs to be read. DSC is not operational and there's likely a problem somewhere in the drivetrain.

So I was playing around with the x last night and discovered that the Parking break was not operational. The Parking break light came on when you lifted the parking break leaver but it would not hold the car. I would still roll down hill. I think that this may be why the 4x4 light is on???
Has any one experienced this or have any SUGGESTION???

I don't see the connection between the parking brake and the DSC system in terms of isolated failures, but it begs the question, do you know where the car came from? Is it from a reputable dealer, or do you have the vehicle history? Is there any chance that this vehicle experienced flood damage (which would impact anything below the waterline, such as parking brakes and DSC components?

Well, You know I did a Carfax report on the Vin# prior to buying the Rig. I also got a hold of past customers and everyone that I talk to, spoke very highly of the dealer and the Vehicles that they had purchased. but I am getting concerned. I will probably have to take it into the dealer to find out WTF is going on with the X. Other than the 4x4 light it drives straight and it has the power and handling that BMW is Known for.

mine is an 04 3.0 and when i was in Vegas this weekend, every morning that i started my car that 4x4 light would come on and won't come off by pressing the DSC button. I noticed though that it only does it when the weather is below 50 deg. Now I'm back to San Diego and everything is fine. I called the dealer today and they will check it tomorrow.

Excuse me for being a dummy... I have an 02' 4.4i and never seen the "4x4" light. Do pre facelifted X5's have this indicator?
