Arrow What originally came with the 2001 X5 nav system?

I just got a 2001 X5 with Nav. It has the correct CD in the drive for my location, but it does not have the keycd or any of the other map CDs. Did it come with map CDs for the rest of the US? Did it come with a keycd?

I've seen something about getting 1 update on the map cd from BMW after you buy your car. Is this true? Is there a way to see if the previous owner got the update (I doubt he did)? Could I still get the update even though the car is out of warranty?

To answer you question i don't believe it's a standard procedure to "get 1 update on the map cd from BMW after you buy your car. That would mean that the dealer would eat $200.00 just out of the kindness of their heart and that's not likely for this product.

Correct me if I'm wrong but "what originally came with the car" was made back in 2000 for 2001 and can't possible have all the new streets that there are now. However buying a new set for your 2001 i believe you would get the whole set for your car and your half would only be $100. A bargain in my book.

BMW 8-CD Map Set - Version 2007.2 $ 199.00

This 8-CD map set contains coverage across the continental United States including Alaska, Hawaii and Canada. It contains over 5.4 million miles of road and more than 5 million points of interest including:

over 413,700 restaurants
over 63,600 hotels
over 100,800 ATMs
over 90,900 gas stations

this is for a new 2001 purchase:
1. it does not come with keycds or OS cds
2. you only get 1 CD (one region) when u buy new. if you need the rest of US, you have to buy on ur own.
3. not sure, but we have a 2001 as well and if i recall correctly, you do get 1 update as part of the 36,000/ 3 yr maintenance .. so I would say you are out of luck, just like after that period they wont cover brakes / wipers etc. hth!
