Sirius Radio Install help...

Hi all,
I have a 2001 X5 4.4 without Nav. I do have DSP and a 2003 CD radio in it but I dont have a CD changer. I bought a used complete Sirius kit and am trying to install it but Im having problems. My X5 has the small 3 pin connector in the left rear but not the 6 pin one. I have installed the antenna without any problem and I ran the wire from thje sirius kit to the 3 pin. I now have the radio saying that I have sirius but dont have sound. I have searched this and tried to resolve it but just cant. I also have an extension wire that was on the sirius wire that looks like it is for the back of the radio. I plugged that one in forst and didnt have anything so I went another route. If anyone knows this stuff please help or pm me your phone number and I will call you. I have my wifes X5 all apart and I need to get it back together asap or she will kill me Thanks!!! Mark

LOL i think you need the DSP adapter for sirius. Check ebay - integrated solutions (seller / store) has a lot of adapters.

here's the adapter i bought, ask the seller if they have anything for you. i assume that's what you need.

other users might have more info with dsp.

Actually, I think the problem is that my x5 has DSP and it doesnt have the 6 pin connector for the CD changer. If it had that I would be done. I just dont have the sound. I have all the stations etc. I think I may actually sell all the sirius stuff and just get an ipod adapter. I never drive the X5 actually. Only when the weather is too bad to drive my 911. My wife drives it and she doesnt care about sattelite radio. If anyone is interested in it just give me an email. I may just spend the money on my 911 where it is appreciated by me!!

The only X5 Sirius kits just came out. If you bought a used one it probably wasn't the right one.

Not sure if that's true. They've been out for a while. Also, I used the 3 series sirius kit and it works fine for my x5 (even less $ at the dealer, same features). The retrofit instructions on home page of this site were posted over a year ago...

Mine was the non-NAV though.

call BMW ask them if there is an adapter for DSP, also you can ask Tom from EAS (he's on this board, if you search and look at my sirius thread i posted mth ago you'll see he responded to me), they may have the adapter as well or he will know what you are missing. EAS= europeanautosports.com

Thanks! I actually sent him an email yesterday. He sounds like he will know the answer for sure. I also want to buy an ipod adapter from him. I will sell the sirius if anyone wants it though. Im more interested in the Ipod adapter but If no one emails me wanting the sirius I will just put it in.
