Weird problems....
Ok, so I've been having some weird problems (since I got my CPOed '03 4.4), but today they got more weird.
As I was sitting behind a truck at a red light, I could see my hazards were on, but the actual hazard switch was not on. The dashboard indicators did not flash indicating they were on either. I then tried to use my blinkers and neither would indicate they were flashing. I thought it was strange, so at my next stop (in a parking lot fearing the car may not restart) I turned the ignition off and restarted the car and they worked fine. Anyone else have this happen? Some of my other problems lend everything to being centered around an electrical or computer problem. When I bought the car, it did not have a CD changer so as a term of me buying it, I made the dealer install one. They installed an alpine unit rather than a BMW unit (hindsight, I would have made them put in a BMW OEM model). My first complaint to the dealer was that the CD Changer would randomly change to FM tuner while playing. The odd thing is that I cannot switch back to changer mode for approx 30-60 seconds when this occurs.. When I do finally get it changed back to CD Changer mode, it is as though the CD Player never stopped playing because the song has progressed far past where it cut off at. The next problem started and involved the stereo as well. Occasionally, when in Radio mode, the system will cut out as though it has lost the radio signal. Never static as though reception is bad, just completely silent. Happens on muliple channels. The dealer replaced the stereo module as a result of this, but the problem continued. In addition to the stereo problems, I've replaced the driver's side headlight (halogen) bulb three times since buying the car because it randomly blows. I make certain to never touch the bulb and there is no water, so I dont know why it keeps blowing. The last time it blew, I replaced the bulb, got in the car and started it and immediately the message center said "Check break lights" and "Check rear lights" however they all function fine. The check break and rear lights indicator randomly come on and somtimes go off while driving. I had a BSW sub and amp installed after the problems started and the dealer has now told me I need to remove it all because they think its the source of my problems. I don't believe them, but my only proof will be that I posted my earlier problems on this board and can prove the stereo equipment was bought after those postings, indicating the problems pre-existed the aftermarket stereo equpment. Once suggestiong I recived about the radio cutting in and out was a bad battery, but the stock BMW battery indicator shows green. Any ideas. I'll be making my next appt soon as I think after the blinker problem today that the issue is continuing to get worse. p.s. I've attached a picture of the service mode of the stereo. You get to this by turning the stereo off, then back on again and immediately holding the select button for about 14 seconds. Does anyone know what the F and Q readings are? I was playing around on my way home tonight and noticed the number next to them changes between 0 and 15. I'm wondering if they are some type of signal meter and what each stands for / measures.
