creaking noise from steering wheel?

Hello,

I've noticed some plastic creaking sounds are coming from steering wheel when I go rough road (it doesn't matter if I go fast or slow)
it seems like sounds are coming from steering column but can't figure where it comes from.
does anyone have this noise problem and know how to fix it?
it's really annoying when music is off.

Thanks!

I'm hearing the same thing.... Could be the steering column, have a service appointment on the 13th so I'll have the dealer check it out..

If its the steering column, don't be surprised if they tell you they have to pull the dash....that will get into some big bucks. Last thing you want is for them to do that, as they will cause more problems than fix.

I have the same noise and brought it up to my dealer. There are two causes that they offered. The first possible cause is a need for lubrication at the base of the steering column where it meets the firewall (which they performed). The second is a piece of plastic which was described as a ring around the airbag which comes loose or binds to make that plasticky noise. They will perform that fix as soon as I schedule an appointment. I don't always here it, though. Sometimes it's very faint, others it's quite noticeable. I don't like it either, but it's a problem of which they've been aware for a while.

same problem on my 05 4.4, I had that noise over a year now. I took it to the dealer and they told me it was some ring around the air bag as said on top post. they said it was normal!!!!!
