BTW
There is no "rear key hole" on Canadian models.

Yeah, but I could not get to the rear cargo area because the lift floor which conceals the spare tire and battery was secured in the up position. I did not however, bother to lower the rear seats to see if I could lift it up from the rear (bottom) because I have a child's car seat installed in the center. It was easier to just jump the positive terminal and use the remote.

Wink

Same exact thing happened to me a couple of years ago, I ended up sliding and forcing my arm into the rear hatch in order to reconnect the battery terminal long enough to pop the hatch open!!!!

Just to update this thread I was finally able to find the starter under the car with a lot of help from NCX. However I couldn't unlock the doors instead I pop the hatch with the remote and crawled all the way to the front, popped the hood, slided back out (doors couldn't be opened), and charged the battery!!!
I hope I never have to do that again, which brings me back to Lemans' post, is it possible for you to tell me more about this secret connection/location and what I have to do??? Like I said with the X fully lowered, with only one jack, and very little space, I definitely don't ever want to find myself in that position again!!!

Check behind center of rear bumper. Hole leads to battery compartment. Its for hitch module. Just have to wire that.

There is still room to add another wire for those days when you are locked out.

So is the solution to wire a lead from the bumper to the battery positive term?

You would need a decent sized lead!
Do I need to locate my starter, too?

No way to use the hitch wiring to trickle charge the battery ?

I think you're missing the point. The mod is NOT meant for you to charge the battery with the added wire. The added wire is only use to provide enough juice for you to pop open the hatch or the door lock with the remote so you can get into your car to pop the hood and charge the battery through the normal route. Therefore, the added wire need not be too thick.
