DrFred...I tend to agree with posters above. I haven't done a brake
line R & R in a couple decades, but I can't imagine that even if they really have to hand bend them on a tube bending machine, that it can be a $1300 + job, imo. And, I thought most Teuton cars used Bundaflex tubing for hydraulic brake lines, which is quite bendable almost by hand or, using a simple "turn". What a coincidence that the Stlr does a "free brake job" and then the line(s) is shot?! I smell a cover up for a botched job, the first time or..."corroded" brake lines on a fairly recent vintage X5??? WTF?! Looking forward to reading the successful outcome, but I'd say they are twisting your pud. GL,mD Last edited by motordavid; 01-25-2008 at 05:04 PM. |

Youry
Thanks for the link. I called the dealer late in the afternoon and corporate had not gotten back to him yet. I mentioned to the service manager that I participate in several X5 message boards and that the general consensus was that the price is ridiculous. I had your link on my screen and started giving him prices displayed which are quite low. How could he tell me that BMW does not have parts for the brake lines and that they have to do it custom localally when your link displays everything? Something fishy?
