What is this pipe for?

Took out the plastic cover on my 4.4L engine and saw this broken pipe!!!
What is this pipe for? Itīs related with the gas system? The pipe has some kind of oil around it
Donīt have any strange smell, or any light on the dash. Power is also normal and car runs fine

Hereīs the little hole on the pipe

crank case vent hoses to the oil seperator.

they melt from the oil mist.

about $55 in parts (2 hoses) and 15 minutes work. make you you get a hose clamp the oem is not reusable.

I believe i must have this broken pipe for more than two months. should I be worried? Do I need to change it as soon as possible?

mines was melted completely and fell apart when I lifted it up to see. then I got a SES light. you should replace them so dirt does not contaminate the crankcase.

Apparently this is a common problem, mine had a hole in the exact same place as yours, as a temp solution I spliced mine with another piece of rubber hose I found and when I get a chance I will try to replace it myself, I don't think it is a 15 min. job though, it's hard to reach in the back of the eng., I think you have take out the whole microfilter assy. to get better access to the vent hose.
I purchased the new crankvent hose for $20 at the dealer, the new hose is made of a stronger material. Let us know how it goes when you replace it.

the only thing you have to remove is the top plastic engine cover and supports for it. 30 minute job. an hour if you're slow.

I am replacing my sparkplugs and I saw my hoses are bad, same as the pics show here. I want to replace both hoses, anyone know what parts number for these hose and do I need a special tool to clam them when installing? I know what the hose melted hose (crank case) is, but not the bottom one. Does any one know?

Are you looking for the lower vent hose? Check Realoem.com to help with part numbers:

This was from an 05 4.4.
