Rear fogs

This might be a newb question but I tried searching and I found a LOT of information but my question wasn't answered.... Must you do all the steps in the DIY (listed below) for a facelifted 4.8is? Or can you get away with just swithcing out the switch and plugging in bulbs/. I was told by a BMW mechanic that all I needed was the switch and bulbs, but he has been wrong before.... So I'm just making sure! Thanks for your help!!

depending on what year x you have. My friend did the switch and bulbs on his 4.8. some x's are already wired for it.

i have a 2004 4.8is and I had to follow all the steps to get my rear fogs to work. I have a tow package on my X already to it was a few steps easier and a lot cheaper.

shouldn't be that hard to wire up. One good sunny day off should do it.
