BMW M3 SMG steering wheel Mod

I just did this the other evening, it was about 3 hours, with a Bentley manual, and I am not completely unfamiliar with BMWs. I ended up removing the two panels under the steering wheel in addition to the steering column panels, to better route the wires to the console. I had also pre-done some wiring. Go slow and put the screws and such in containers so you remember where they go...otherwise if you can change oil, you can do this, just be careful and meticulous.
I got my wheel used, but after cleaning is basically as good as new, on e46fanatics.com A lot of used SMG and M3 wheels seem to trade on that site. I only paid $220, but I spent another $50 to buy a brand new lower wheel trim in black, and thats' shipped to Hawaii.

Hey Bimmer360, I joined e46fanatics.com and i'm going to be on there daily looking for an SMG wheel - i see you're on there as well. What's the retail price at BMW? or a part #?

$500 is about the average cost of the M3 SMG II wheel with paddles, excluding the airbag. Like Bimmer360 says, its a pretty easy mod, just take your time and print out these articles:
