the first year or two should have lots of bugs that need to be fixed so i'd look into year three and on.

I agree with you guys totally. But let me add my 2 pennies for the original poster...a new body style means nothing if you don't like the lines. I personally wouldn't opt for a new body style just to say I have a "NEW" X. If the X goes to a seven seater, it doesn't matter what the body looks like, I'm not interested!!!..........Phil

I have an '06 on order (what a sin!), b/c I like it. I also have an e46 M3 that I plan to keep for many years to come b/c I think that it is a classic design. I like the new 3 series, but it has not made me like mine any less. The 4.8 is one of the best looking and maybe the best handling trucks on the market. That is good enough for me. I was able to get what I wanted withoug paying sticker (or more).

Did I miss something? Is the new one out and ready for purchase? If not, how can you possibly say that anyone with an X5 is "driving around in an old model car"?

What we can say is that we are driving around in the best SUV (or SAV) on the road, bar none

Let's motor!!

To continue the trend: I had an E30 for fifteen years. The E36 came out three years after I bought it and it still looks good with the E46 and E90s now on the road. I still get nostalgic when I see my old one in the parking lot at my club (I 'sold' it to the bag room attendant).

I bought because the current one is the epitomy of the classic BMW shape pre Bangle.
And, it's a good vehicle in it's own right,
been in production for a while most of the bugs sorted.
Don't want to risk my cash field testing a new model

markup ?

you bought a '04 E46 in June '04 and sold it about a year later for 3 grand more than you paid

What was production date on the E46 ? You bought it new or used ?

Curious.

There's just been something about the new BMW models (current shape z4,5,6 & 7 series) that takes a bit of time to grow on me. I wasn't sure I even liked them when they first came out. Now I'm thinking of buying a 7 series (or maybe a 5) as the styling has realy grown on me. That along with the fact that I love the current X5 shape lead me to buy my 4.8is a couple of months ago.

I also agree that early bugs in cars (no matter how much testing they do) are always going to be there. That would annoy me.

My car will be 3 years old when the new model has been out for a year. Perfect!!!
