Get ready for the new nav upgrade

I read an article saying 2006 X5 (current body style) gets the new nav system with 3D screen and better graphics. I guess it is time to think about an upgrade.

One of the pictures on that page is a wagon with a 550i badge. What is that? It also has the 4.8is wheels....i think.

Yes it's called "Perspective view" in BMW speak or "Bird's eye view" in the Japanese car.

I already played with the 3D Nav screen in the 2006 E90 330i with NAV (also available on the current 5-series and 7-series with the latest NAV OS).

It is a neat, but not any more useful than the current nav system.

That same article also says "This improved presentation can be downloaded into systems on all of the models mentioned as well as the former 3 and 5 Series built as of Sept em ber 2005 by the dealer within a matter of minutes simply by updating the car’s software. The only requirement is that the vehicles involved are equipped with BMW’s Professional navigation system."

Does that include 2005 X5's?

545 is being retired in favor of the 550, that is a great car going out and an even greater one replacing it....
