Dinan owners...A couple of questions...

I have a 4.4i with sport pkg and the 4.6is 20" wheels. At times I think about trading it in for the 4.6is but the stealer wants too much of a difference, so I may hang on to it for a while. Especially since it has every option possible.

So...what's the optimum way of getting more horsepower...without bolting on a supercharger?? How are the Dinan Stage I and II upgrades and do they add a noticeable difference? I am thinking about adding the air intake, software upgrade and exhaust.

Even after adding the above, it will still not be close to the 4.6is!

i first upgraded to the S2 package. it was marginally better. not worth the $$$. going all out w/ the S3 was all worth the $$$ imo. use the S or S2 money for other endeavors imo...

Frankly, I could not justify the S3 package($), but Monday I should have my X5 back with a complete S2. I leave for Vegas on Tuesday. Will be back Monday and let you know the differences between this trip and the last.

I am still investigating powerchips. They claim they can get 300 out of a 01 4.4i. Thats 18 HP more that what it has. Not a huge difference but torque goes to 343...and that may be worth it. Thats not much less than the Dinan S3, its a hell of a lot less money. I just cant see spending over 7k on the S2 kit.

I agree it's alot, but I included it in my budget when hunting for a used X5 SP with no sunroof - Right now I'm figuring this maybe my last vehicle (56 in Nov) - I LOVE driving and reading - and I'm fighting glaucoma - fortunately, I get annual physicals since 35 and we caught it early 5 years ago - Still there is no 'cure' , only a holding action - with 25+ years ahead of me (according to statistics) I'm not going to wait to do things I want to do - I want to do them while I still can enjoy it.

Good for you...I think you should go for it and enjoy it. One question...how the heck did you find one without a sunroof. I didnt think that existed over here.

I budgeted 40k to spend on a X5. I looked at 03's and high mile 04s and could not find the options that I wanted. I found a CPO 01 with everything I wanted with only 30k miles on it. It is in better shape than most of the 04's I looked at. It just needed a little tweaking to personalize it. I have dumped about 3 grand into it in the last week doing mods...plus the 1500 I spent on the style 132s (off of my neighbors 05 X5) and new diamaris from my last X5. I paid 30k for it which is high for a 2001 but it had everything I wanted down to the color. I guess the extra savings will go into the mods department
