headlight upgrade option for '03 X

i've finally given up all hope on the facelift conversion. my first step in forgetting the facelift dreams will be a headlight upgrade. being that my X is an '03 i'd have to find headlights that can be baked and opened in order to pull off the DIY AE mod then actually try the mod myself. that doesn't seem all that bad and seems like the best option...

BUT i came across a set of headlights on bimmian that caught my eye. they are modeled after the 04+ headlights and looked great at first glance. but the more i look at them and compare to OEM the more hesitant i am about actually getting them.

Take a look...

i like the work on the corners, but looks like the high beam ring is a little too small and they are spaced a little too far apart. Plus, check the link below. found headlights on ebay that look very very similar, if not the same...for less money of course.

I'm seriously considering being x5world's guinea pig with these. Opinions?

why did you give up on the facelift hope? I got projectors53 and going to facelift route.

the facelift requires an entire new front end and as much as i like the look its just too much to do the conversion.

say you do get the parts...i'm talking hood, two fenders, bumper, headlights, grille inserts, and the whole deal... then you still have to get the kit add-on otherwise the whole thing is pointless IMO

what i like best about the facelift are the changes in the headlights and the bigger grille. i figure instead of dumping so much into the conversion i can find a way to upgrade these parts on my X --i.e. these headlights, maybe + black out grille-- and still have cash to do some other mods...ie. 4.6 kit/tips and maybe painting plastic trim to match the body

projectors53 are a good option but not what i was really looking for. i'm assuming they are temporary if you are going the facelift route

very true and i agree 100%. I found good deals on some parts i got, and nothing beats facelift, too much work, yes, but once you completed it, it will pay off. Will post pics once i completed it. Trying to beat the price on the article or at least half of that cost, if not, lower than the article price.

But i respect your pov, for me, i thought projectors53 would change my perspective, but it didn't.

i just got a euro headlight for $147. Considering that it is $720 from dealer. Second, front bumper for $168 but needs to be painted, price for new one is $500 something. Fenders that i am looking at on ebay, painted for $469 with an option of making an offer so it could less than that and i think its a good deal considering that it is painted. 2004 Hood on craigslist for $80 with a slight damage. I missed an ad couple of weeks ago for less than $200 free of damage (hated myself), so deals are there, just need to be aware. So far so good.

if possible, $2000 painted parts and installed. But couple of hundreds more isnt too bad at all either. I know it's hard but we'll see.
