Transmission Issue

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forums and recently purchased a 2005 X5 4.4. I noticed that when coming to a complete stop, the transmission has a rough downshift back to first gear. It also comes in when the only comes to a complete stop. Does anyone else have this issue? The car shakes a bit when downshifting. Thanks in advance!

Hello, fellow bay area resident :xoutpost: Since you have a 2005 X5, i assume it is still under warranty right? Just go to dealer and have it checked. Kinda hard to tell and it could be anything....

I wanted to hold back on going to the dealership cause they will probably say it's nothing. Did you install your DICE yourself? Was it easy?

Would the brake pads really make a difference considering it feels like a transmission problem? Did you just replace the old brake pads or did you upgrade?

Is this what you are experiencing? Like someone just rearended you?

Hit a link below, might be a solution to your problem. Mine used to do it, but then it stoped. Could be that it's adjusting to your driving habbit

I have reported the same problem and have my X5 at the dealer now. They installed the new software update to the tranny twice and it didn't work. They now have my X5 until the 21st. They are running a series of tests to determine the problem but we both have the feeling a new Tranny is needed. Most folks have said the software update worked for them.
