4.8 engine for sale - any ideas about installation?

I found this on eBay today:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/03-04...em320218718717

and was wondering if anyone here ever swapped out their 4.4i engine for the 4.8? I have a '01 so I worry my chassis would only be compatible with a 4.6 engine.

Let me know your thoughts. This guy is also selling a 3.0 engine.

Side note, don't drop $5,000 on a seller with 10 feedback.

I would think you would also need updated electronics, wiring harness, possible programming from the dealer. Don't know whether the tranny would be the same as well.
This is probably a much bigger job than you think.

Unless you know what you are doing it would be far easier to sell your current X5 and buy a 4.6is or a 4.8is.

Dont forget the necessary ecu and tranny programming required to get your swap running smoothly... i'd stay away from the swap idea if i were you...

Oh wait, he sold a tail light!!!!!!!!!

Whew....I sure feel better now.

Yeah, I didn't notice any actual pics of his engines or maybe a physical address of his shop. As everyone said, I stay away.

I would not stay away based on the seller. The phone number is right in the Ebay ad. Anyone here who is saying negative things about them could call and ask about the engine rather than all of the supposition about them not being a good seller.

The reason not to do it, as mentioned before, is it would be a very hard task to do the conversion.

You'll need a new 6speed gearbox.
