vibration w/ high speed braking, will dealership know about pads?

So i replaced my brake pads to the axxis dustless pads and everything was fine for about 6-7months and now im getting a pretty big vibration that is associated w/high speed. when i brake at around 30-60mph everything is fine..,

but if i drive aggresively; lets say if i go around 80mph and apply the brakes kinda of hard and then speed up again and apply them agian, i get a real noticable vibration in my steerring wheel.

My question is; will the dealer know from looking at my pads that i have non oem pads.(they have been on for 6months now)

and shoudl i also remove my rear spacers just so they dont try to blame it on the spacers?

Have you check the tires to see if they need balancing. From what you are stating this appears only within a particular speed range. The only other thing that I could think may cause this, is a bad rotor. I've had this problem and it is the worse. I would get that same terrible shake from my steering wheel. It was not until I changed my rotors and pads that the vibration stopped. (Turned out it was the drivers side rotor that was warped)

I do believe that the dealer will be able to tell the the aftermarket pads from the dealer pads, especially if you pads have the split that goes down the center of the pads(The dealer pads are one complete pad). I'm not sure about the spacers on the rear though.

Similar problem. Seriously vibrate over 65mph.
Inspected pad and rotor at BMW dealer and it was ok(Under factory warranty)
Dealer recommended new tires and I couldn’t trust it because I thought they tried to sell just tires. But found out that real problem was tires (Inspected by couple local mechanics again)

So replaced two front tire as dealer recommend and everything fine now.

I had a similiar problem. At 60-80 mph if I braked MODERATELY, I would get this shuddering or vibration in the steering wheel like the front of the car is jumping around.

I took it in and it turns out that the front rotors are warped, suprising at 25K miles. I think its the carwash when the brakes were hot or something like that.

Either way, the dealer replaced the front pads and rotors under warranty.

Would the dealer know if i have aftermarket pads just by visual check?

They will put it up on a lift and pull the wheels off, and then they will know the pads are aftermarket.

They might deny the warranty claim as the pads are aftermarket, and possibly the rotor replacement too.

How often are you supposed to have your wheels balanced?

Normally, everytime that you change your tires or if you start to notice a deviation in the handling of the steering. I don't believe that there is exact time period.

I agree. You need new rotors. I had this problem on a prior car to my X5.
