New owner checking in

Just picked up a nice 2004 3.0 for the wifey. This looks like a good forum, I spend most of my time on RF and the Fest with the e39 crowd. Hope to learn a lot here.

A few questions to get my mods started.
It looks like the X5 has Premium, Sport, Cold Weather and Rear climate packages. She is black with tan. I would like to add the aluminun side steps, where would I start to look for these? I assume the headlights are halogen, I cannot find any ballasts representing Xenon??? Were Xenon's an option in 2004? In the owners manual I found a Bluetooth pairing passkey, how do I know if it has bluetooth?

All my pics are over the size limit, I will downsize and post soon.

Mike

I picked my Aluinium running boards up from Morristown BMW and even shipped, they were well under retail.

They took about 90 mins to fit. Essential tools are a nice pin punch to knock out the old securing clips and a good blind rivet gun to insert some of the new ones.

As for Bluetoothm remove D/S rear cover in load space and you will see factory Bluetooth interface mounted low and on an angle (aluminium box about 2" x 4" x 10") and the antenna will be zipper tied to the top of the compartment.

So far I can't find any major flaws. I don't think the rear or passenger seat was ever used. It has 40K miles and drives very well. Being in BMW V8's all my life, I am impressed with how well the I6 does. Of course it's lacking in the torque of the V8, but it's a smoother, quieter motor and has plenty of power for a daily driver.

There is a red light next to the "phone" button on the MID that stays on all the time. I assume it's looking for a BMW phone that does not exist. Is there a way to turn this off?

I attached a few pics.
