Anyone further tinted their panoramic roof?
Any added another layer of tint? Any issues doing it, since it slides in and out, would it get scratched? Also, if you have done it, what % did you add, and if you have pics, that would be great. TIA.

I asked my tint guy back home when I got my front windows matched to my rears and he said he would NEVER do a sunroof..... Since the sun directly hits the window, the tint would shrink and put a lot of stress on the glass, eventually cracking in a few years..... I don't know if this is true or not....

umm how would tint on the sunroof be any different than tint on the rear or side glass. The rear glass would probably get almost as much heat and radiation as the roof would. Ive never seen tint crack persay but peel yes.
Most people dont wanna do the roof because they would need larger sheets of tint and would require them work upside down and to go in and out of the car repeatedly versus swinging a door. of course they'd like to make money doing it the easy way... I have a friend who tinted the moonroof on his TL two years ago. It looks the same as the day he tinted the car. Its parked half indoors and half out. Find a decent tint guy who can do the work AND uses quality tint. None of that blue/green/red/chrome stuff. Quote:

Also, needing larger sheets of tint for sunroof?? What about the rear window?? It's bigger than the sunroof if done in one piece, unlike the 3 pieces that cheap tint shops do! SO next time you want to talk some sh!t, know what you are talking about acitydweller! Last edited by lemans4.8; 11-10-2008 at 10:57 PM. |

hey lemans,
Dont get worked up on a rhetorical question dude. No one really cares who your tint guy is or what he uses. For all we know he could tint using sheets of carbon fiber. Seems like youre taking it a bit personal and im sorry if you took it the wrong way. no disrespect intended. no need to be testy and defensive either... |

I have mine tinted with 3M Scotchtint 50% for almost a year now
No problems at all ... plus the 3M film really stops the heat I live in Saudi ... maybe the hottest country in the world!
