New X5 owner, I feel right at home with the rest of you, day 1, window regulator...

Bought a 2002 Estoril 4.6is. Great driving car, tons of power, every option including the loading floor, which I could do without, it takes away headroom my dogs could use.

Second day of ownership, I lower all the windows to get rid of the 'strip club' smell in the interior, interior detailing something smelled like grapes.

Passenger rear window won't go back up. Got the panel off, used a heat gun to get the foam sound insulation off. The cable had come off the blue spool and got tangled.

Thanks to the great, detailed writeups I should have it fixed once I can get new regulator, in the mean time the car is in the garage.

Picked it up from Good Stuff Auto in Santa Rosa. 54k miles on it, all the service up to date. Perfect except for....a window regulator. Lol.

I don't know anyone with a modern BMW that hasn't had to replace one of those things. Seriously, someone needs to come up with an aftermarket replacement.

Doesn't bother me much, door panel is already off, as soon as I can pick up the new one it will be fixed.

I was driving a 99 Range Rover as my SUV, so yeah, the X5 is demonstrating Honda like reliability in comparison.

Welcome. I'm envious, The Estroil 4.6 is my favorite X5.

Ok, rear window fixed, not too bad of a job, worst part is getting the sound insulating foam off the door. I finally get to enjoy the car tomorrow.
