Unhappy Window wont go up and steering wheel making swishing sounds..HELP PLEASE

Hi everyone, im new here and I just purchased a 2002 x5 4.6is but now i have a problem withe the passenger side window, it wont roll up ive tried everything and read the manual to make sure i wasnt missing anything. My second problem is a certain swishing sound coming from the steering wheel, I woas wondering if this was normal or a defect... I only hear it when I turn the wheel... If any of you guys out there have had similar problems please let me know how you fixed it, it would save me a trip to the dealer.... but if you guys think it requires a dealers help then let me know as well.... thanks

Sounds like a broken window regulator and a defective "clock spring". Do a quick search on the board and the home page for articles.

Having the window regulator replaced at the dealer will run you over $500.

Many members have followed the DIY article on the homepage. The part is roughly $110 (if you are a BMWCCA member, you may get a 20% parts discount at your dealer).

that window regulator is not real hard to change...I bought the part off ebay for 75 dollars and fixed mine...an extra set of hands does help in doing this though

let me tell you guyz my story about when I first got m x5..I was so excited, I was so excited I decided to show my dad... I drove over to his house and he came out to the car and hopped in the pasenger side he was like "DAMN Nice FREAKIN CAR SON", you did good... I was like "Yeah I even got a great deal on it". He began to roll the window down all the way. I asked him if he wanted to go for a test drive and he said sure, so he tried to roll the window back up but it was stuck. He asked me whats wrong with the window and I had know clue... He said its probably the some sorta child saftey or somethin, so he reached for the door handle to check out the side of the door for some sort of lever and the freakin door handle came off, he then took the door handle and began to beat me with it... while he was beating me with it he said "GREAT DEAL HUH #@*"#"..After he was done hitting me he handed me the handle and went through the window and went back inside the house... Nice HUH. great loving family..
