BAD POWER LOSS

My 01 x5 4.4 seems to run fine pokin around town but when you try to get in the gas it struggles real bad. Have any of you had this problem? It feels like its either not getting any fuel or cant breath..any help?

A quick and easy check is for a vacuum leak. Check the air intake tube for cracks/ splits.

Could be any number of things....Check the obvious stuff first..Spark plugs, intake tube, air filter, etc. If they look fine then move on to the next step if it bothers you that much. Next step would be taking it in to the shop to get a diagnosis...

o2 sensors or mass air flow sensor could be expired. need a diagnostic to check it out

ok, here is what I found. I took the intake cover off there were two hoses that were mushy and had ripped in several places. The hoses go into the canister in the pic and then run over to the driver side in to 2 different nipples. Do any of you know what these hoses are for? Im thinking of just replacing with some heater hoses.

Would you mind taking another picture but zooming out, in reference to other components?

No wonder it struggles, you have a vacuum leak with those broken hoses. That part is the oil seperator and those are breather hoses.

The place where it hooks to on the driver does suck hard. i cranked it to see what they did. Could someone pull their intake cover off and tell me which one goes to which. Mine were so bad melted I couldnt tell. I think the bottom one goes to the nipple on the valve cover on the driver side. Thanks for the help guys.
