E53 Westfalia towbar/hitch & Thule bike rack
First post on this excellent website. Found loads of useful stuff so far. Thanks! I've fitted my own detachable Westfalia/BMW Towbar (thanks to X5world!), with a view to using it to carry a couple of mountain bikes. I'm looking at a couple of Thule carriers that clamp onto the tow/hitch ball, but am concerned as to whether there is enough clearance between towball/hitch and the bumper (the towbar is connected under the bumper and 'just' sticks out beyond the bumper/fender). Has anybody fitted any of the Thule carriers to their detachable towbar? (I'm looking at the Thule Euroway945, Euroclassic G5 904 and Euroclassic 902). Apologies if I missed a relevant thread on this. I did try searching the forum but a lot of the US cars seems to have a different square receiver rather than the detachable 'swan neck' that I've seen over here in the UK. regards, :-) Mark 2004 X5 3.0d SE |
