As many others have posted, my X5 4.4 is plagued with the seemingly lower than normal idle speed and resulting high frequency vibration. Neutral or in drive both idle about a needle width above the 500 rpm mark. If I turn on the AC, the idle speed goes up about 100 rpm and it seems much smoother.
Has anyone gotten a difinitive answer about changing the idle speed? It seems like no one has been able to fix this problem, other than turning the AC compressor on. There are many times I drive without HVAC on, and I think its absurd BMW would allow such an oversight.
I have had this vehicle less than 2 months, and I think this has only recently started happening. It has been in the shop more than it's been out, and I'm really thinking it's time to cut losses and move on.
