Recently installed HID's- NEED HELP!

I've looked throughout the forum using the search button and haven't found any help. Maybe someone can help.

I have a 2005 X5 and got a set of aftermarket HID's cheap. I installed them correctly but now after a couple minutes of driving- the message "Check lowbeam bulb" comes on and the bulbs go out. The lights work fine right up until that message comes on and then they go right out. I've read about relays etc etc. Can someone give me a clear cut answer on what works?
I even took it to a shop but they were COMPLETELY clueless. I hope someone on here can help.
Hopefully a fellow x5 owner can help me out because i'm lost.
