Where to mount electric brake controller?

Have to wire up the electric brake controller for my trailer tonight and tomorrow. But I've be procrastinating because I just don't know where to mount it:

1)Screw into the knee panel below the steering wheel, just above driver's knee. This is the typical spot but will get hit by my knee getting in and out.

2)Fabricate a mount to put it just to the right of the shifter. I'd screw into the black plastic around the shifter base so as not to mar the wood trim on top of the console.

3)Try to find a flexible arm to screw into the side of the console low enough down to attach in the carpeted area. position it so the controller is to the right of the shifter.

4)Fab a mount that would drop into the forward cup holder, attach the controller to the top of that. Would be easy to remove that way. But anyone who knows me knows there's always a Caribou coffee in my hand or truck. Would hate to give up the cup holder especially on long hauls to tracks 10-15 hours away.

Any other thoughts?
