BMW ETK (parts catalog) question

Can someone tell me what is meant by the terms "Position 1" or "Position 2" etc. in the parts catalog for the items at the following link:

I've searched and searched and I can't find anything to explain this. Please note that it does NOT refer to Region Code or the key position. Any clues???!

Probably a bad translation from German?
Could it be Item 1, Item 2 in the same list????

You know you might be right.! I originally dismissed it since I saw it written in other places as "item 2 or 3" etc. and not "position 2 or 3" , but perhaps they mean the same thing.
