Effects of not turning on the X5 after 3 months
So this is my dilemma. I go to law school here in Miami, but I am from Sacramento. I had my '02 shipped out here in Miami right before school started. But I want to spend this entire summer back in California and I dont have anyone to occassionally rev up the engine on the X5. So my question is, what negative side effects would I expect if I do decide to leave my car here in Miami, idle and stagnant for the entire 3 months? Thanks.

None.
Starting it up every few weeks, unless it is driven and properly warmed up, is harder on it than just letting it sit. Change the oil before you park it.

Basic stuff; we leave a car & several m'cycles for 5+
months every year. -Attach Battery Tender, maybe using cheap appliance timer at receptacle, for a once a week 24 hr charge. -Change oil before, or at least "after", upon return. -pump up tires to 40 or so, which supposedly reduces flat spotting. -Add rec'd ounces of Stabil to gas to prevent deterioration. -A good "wax" job and/or a dust cover, won't hurt. As Wagner said, with a low amp/floating batt. charger, it should start right up. Our car/m'cycles fire up every year, after their "sleep". GL,mD

Since gasoline now includes ethanol I would add stabilizer and Star Tron Gasoline Additive. You can buy them at a marine store such as West Marine.
