				Sold my car/NEED you advice
I sold my 330ci and will be getting my X5 next week Here is the question: Sold it on eBay to some guy from NJ with good/solid feedback He is coming this Saturday to pick it up and finalize all the paperwork. This is the first car I sold so sorry for all these questions. 1. He wants a copy of the Title to be emailed to him - should I do that? 2. He wants to know my address or place where we can get together - should I give my address? 3. Wants to pay with check - I requested Certified Bank Check 4. Do we need to go to the DMV after I get a check or can I just sign a Title and give it to him? Please someone let me know. Thanks. |

Well yeah, he would expect a copy of the title to show your really own this car. Your address will be on the title, so you can either give that to him or meet somewhere else to complete the transfer. Demand the certified check, NEVER NEVER NEVER allow a purchase of this size with a personal check. You can sign the title over, also draw up a Bill of Sale with the VIN and price along with the line "no warranty given or assumed". Both of you should sign the BOS and have it notarized, each of you getting a copy. You do not have to go to the DMV with him.

Find out what bank he banks at and if you have a local branch, meet him there and have them issue a check directly to you. Or, do it on a day where you can call his bank to verify the certified check is legit. There are too many stories out there about fake cashier and bank checks to take a chance like that.

I recently succesfully sold my 330Ci M-Sport Convertible via ebay.co.uk, here are my thoughts on your questions; 1. He wants a copy of the Title to be emailed to him - should I do that? >> I would give him the registration number, thats all he would need to check the cars details 2. He wants to know my address or place where we can get together - should I give my address? >> Yes, how else would he view the car? I'd be more suspicious if someone was willing to buy the car without viewing it in the flesh. I would always meet at my house rather than anywhere else, if you are worried get a friend to be with you. 3. Wants to pay with check - I requested Certified Bank Check >> Always a Certified Bankers Cheque or Bankers Draft, Do not release the car before funds have cleared into your account. 4. Do we need to go to the DMV after I get a check or can I just sign a Title and give it to him? >> Not sure what you mean by DMV, I assume this is US related and to do with the Vehicle registration office?
