fuel filter fittings

So I changed the PITA fuel filter yesterday. In taking everything apart, I managed to bugger up the quick connect fittings. They still lock, but I am just worried that they will eventually loosen up and then I will get stranded somewhere. Why did BMW go away from a standard hose clamp? In reassembling everything, I pulled on them to make sure they were tight and they were.
