Blank Nav screen

I took my 2002 to BMW to diagnose my blank Nav screen. My radio and cassette work. They diagosed my screen unit as bad ( wanted $2400 on a $2000 new option to fix). I walked out spending another $1500 on a variety of items that I didn't intend to ($575 for a thermostat). I bought a guaranteed functioning unit on my own (eBay) for $800 and had it installed (another $150).....same blank screen. They told me they thought it was the navigation unit in the trunk. The red light blinks on my Mk 3 unit. What do you think? Thanks

Do you have a TV option ?, if yes then it can be a TV module that is broken, othervise it is the MK3 or some cables not connecting well

I had a similar problem with my MKIII. My Navigation screen would go black, periodically reboot, and my Navteq navigation CD would constantly eject itself even though it was flawless.

I would recommend trying to DOWNgrade your Nav software (to v21.1 which brings you to 3-1/62) and see if that fixes the problem. If it does, you can always use any of the later versions of the Nav software to bring you up to version 3-1/63). It worked for me.

Good luck!
